2007.11.15 — Côte d’Azur, near Cennes, France. Night. A stony beach. Few people. Oskar Chmioła took an ordinary hula hoop in his hands. He set one end alight and raised it over the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. He held the other end near his navel. The “Katyushas” falling into the water, the rhythm of the waves and the steps of bare feet wading in the water determined the gradation of the event. The performance unfolded along the shore over a distance of about a kilometre. It ended on an old jetty, as a patch of plastic on the seat of an old bicycle abandoned on the stone pier.
