The action concerns the moment when a step, pace or behaviour begins to operate automatically under the influence of the environment, shared rhythm and accepted direction. Here, an alternative means recovering a brief space between impulse and response: a moment in which one can decide again.

White ribbons against black clothing materialised a shift from being directed by a structure towards relating to it consciously. Movement at ninety degrees to the bridge’s main axis temporarily suspended the direction offered by the infrastructure.

Site context

Millennium Bridge functioned as an active carrier of meaning. The history of the “Wobbly Bridge” recalls how bodies, crowds and architecture mutually shape movement. The St Paul’s Cathedral — Tate Modern axis became a vector between past and future without reducing the two sites to simple oppositions.
