Oskar Chmioła / Works and actions

Garden of Quiet

Ogród wyciszenia

Below are the complete assigned source sections, with images, films, links and credits. Each section also links to the entire document. Translations are drafts; unverified details have not been filled in.

Navigation categories based on the cited sources; they do not assign an artistic movement. Medium, technique and role require separate descriptions.

Performance date

The performance and its film record

The date of the performance is established by two related records: the invitation published on 30 November and the post of 3 December 2021, in which the artist shared a film of the action carried out that day. The event metadata set the presentation’s time frame at 15:30–16:30 in Poland. The one-hour period belongs to the programme, rather than an independent measurement of the recording’s length. Both posts associate the project with European Autism Week; the earlier reference to a ‘day’ remains in the historical list as the wording of that source.

Combining a sensory group action with a broadcast created two modes of participation: directly co-creating the situation and receiving it through a screen. The film record enabled a later return to the ephemeral event, while not replacing its participants’ embodied experience. The quietening evoked by the title is read here as a direction of artistic work with attention and surroundings, without attributing undocumented clinical outcomes to the performance.
